A look into the past, present, and future of the Nonsuch Estate.

COMING SOON

About

Built in the 1800's, Nonsuch Estate was carefully renovated and extended by its then-owners between 1910 and 1920. Unfortunately, this exceptional building suffered a catastrophic fire in 2021, and whilst the main house remains Grade II* Listed, this former home is now just a shell.

Agreeing to purchase the estate in September 2022, Niall immediately took steps to care for this neglected building, protecting it with a temporary roof after months spent exposed to the elements. The sale was completed in February 2023, with the year following spent researching, analysing and compiling reports on the condition and history of the building.

Now is the time to share our vision for the future of Nonsuch with the public and invite your input, which will soon be presented to Wiltshire Council and Historic England along with our full plans. Once we have approval, works will quickly commence, starting with the main house and existing barns to finally restore each building to its former glory.

With plans to be ready for guests in June 2027, the next few years will be filled with careful renovation and expansion to the potential of the estate, just as it was at the turn of the last century, to ensure its survival for another and more. The historic pheasant shoot will remain and we will be recruiting local builders and hospitality staff, along with securing local suppliers for the restaurant and other facilities.

Our Plan

Nonsuch Estate is an exclusive setting for everyone, from couples and families to groups of friends and solo travellers, each finding themselves equally immersed in everything Nonsuch has to offer.

Niall wishes to restore the main house into a 10-bedroom boutique hotel, using a layout which replicates the original plans. The East Wing will become an independent 6-bedroom house, with further accommodation placed across various barn conversions and renovated existing cottages. In all, this will create 50 bedrooms across the site, providing the viability to operate, and to protect this historic building and its land.

Inspired by Niall's own love of group holidays, a Nonsuch stay combines the intimacy of sharing an entire house, whilst still enjoying the benefits of a traditional hotel, with fine dining in the restaurant, room service, housekeeping, spa treatments and exclusive on-site activities.

Your Stay

Time spent at Nonsuch offers space to escape from the day-to-day and an opportunity to reconnect with nature. The Nonsuch House will be aimed at couples or single occupancy, with the rest of the residences crafted with family and group stays in mind, with child care available by request.

For a more active stay, guests might like to use the tennis courts, spa and wellness centre, yoga and pilates studio, indoor or outdoor pools, and art studio, or explore the sculpture trail with a Nonsuch picnic basket, carefully curated by our kitchen with seasonal local produce.

With a full concierge service, guests might like to dine in with a private chef, order room service or stock up with supplies from our farm shop for a self-catered stay, as all residences will have their own kitchens.

The Spa

Our wellness centre will be a tranquil space to escape the stresses of life. A full complement of treatments will be on offer along with a resistance gym, sauna and steam room. There will be various internal pools and an external lap pool for those more focused on fitness. With sun loungers inside and out, set aside a few hours of your day to while away.

The New Barn

The reinvigoration of this space will create a homestead for a stylish cafe and restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everyone will be welcome here, with a menu inspired by our local suppliers, paired with wines recommended by our sommelier or a cocktail crafted by our mixologist, all served in a high-end, yet cosy setting. From here you will be able to look out over the parklands with lunch or admire the gently illuminated sculpture trail by night.
